A dear, sweet, troubled friend is missing.
My heart aches.
Bright, shining, beautiful and broken she is.
It might be too late.
But she knew Jesus.
Two gorgeous kids.
Missing their mom, no doubt.
Their hearts had steeled a bit, never knowing exactly what was going to happen.
Doesn't take away from their pain.
It's in my throat.
The pain goes down from there.
Alcoholism is impossible to fathom.
Unless you have it.
It wraps itself around you like a viper.
Do vipers wrap?
Maybe pythons are better metaphors.
But she knew Jesus.
If she's gone, she's with Him.
If she's still here, He's with her.
The pain is lifting.
Maybe now I can go to sleep.
Maybe now I can cry.
Maybe now the pain will lessen.
Just enough.
God's word, spoken out loud, promises us victory through the tough stuff. Maybe you struggle with homework and getting to school or work on time and maybe it's something tougher like prostitution, drug addiction or facing an ugly past. Hopefully, you'll be encouraged, laugh a little and emerge with a smile on your face, knowing that there is victory in Jesus!!

Cutting--The Enemy's Counterfeit Covenant (Written quickly, without edits, for young people)
OK, check this out.
A while back I wrote about how the enemy aka the devil (that short, nasty, greasy dude that likes to cause mayhem) has been suggesting that people cut on themselves since way back in the day. Like, around Jesus' time. In fact, in the gospels, there's a story about a guy who's fully possessed to the point of running around cutting himself with sharp stones. Once Jesus cast out the demon within this cat, the cutting stopped.
Crazy right?
OK, so yesterday, I was in Bible study and we were talking about how God used various forms of cutting to form covenants, or holy agreements, between God and man. Circumcision, animal sacrifice, etc. were used to solidify our connection with God. Ultimately, Jesus shed His own blood on the cross to pay for our sins.
It hit me then...AGAIN.
The devil took something sacred and holy and turned it into something harmful and deadly. Something that traps thousands of teenagers each year.
Think about it. The enemy suggests lies.
"You're worthless, no one likes you, you might as well slice yourself up. You're ugly anyway."
The total OPPOSITE of what God says about you.
Say this out loud, based on Psalm 139:

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Just after writing this short, unedited blog, I read Joseph Prince's Daily Devotional for Tuesday, March 26, 2013 and it coincidentally had a piece on CUTTING and COVENANTS!!! Here it is:
- Guaranteed By CovenantGenesis 15:8–98And he said, “Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?” 9So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”Are you discouraged because a breakthrough that you have been praying for has yet to manifest? Maybe it has been days or even weeks and you are asking, “How will I know that I will get it?” Abraham faced the same situation and asked God the same question. And God answered, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” What a strange answer! But if you read on (Genesis 15:10–21), you will realize that God took Abraham’s question very seriously, and went on to show him just how serious He was about being his provider, protector and blesser. God was so serious that He was willing to bind Himself to a covenant. What is a covenant? It is like a contract. Yet, it is more than a contract. A contract is binding only for a period of time, like five years or seven years, or until certain terms are fulfilled. But a covenant is perpetual. It is permanent. The only way out is through death. That is why marriage is a covenant, not a contract. It is permanent — “Till death do us part”.In Bible times, when you cut a covenant with someone, you bring an animal, usually a ram or goat, and kill it by cutting it in two. Next, you will face your covenant partner and walk toward each other between the two pieces of the animal, passing each other in the center. What all this means is that both parties are obligated to protect and provide for each other. Whatever belongs to you is your partner’s and whatever belongs to your partner is yours. Of course, the one who benefits is the lesser or poorer party.Today, God is in covenant with us. We are the lesser, poorer party. We have nothing to offer God. But God, the richest and most powerful being in the universe, has everything to offer us!My friend, God has bound Himself to a covenant, an iron-clad guarantee of His blessings and provision in your life, and it is all for your benefit. The breakthrough you are waiting for is guaranteed by covenant!Thought For The DayGod has bound Himself to a covenant, an iron-clad guarantee of His blessings and provision in your life.
